This is undefined behavior in "sene of NIS specification". But since it is a usual workaround for this limitation (between, on pure Linux networks this hack is not necessary), the patch is Ok. But it only "fixes" one more app, not the generel problem that there is much more software in the world which still will not work with this hack.
