I finally got a copy of Tiger and fixed this.  The issue was that the 
bootROMType function wasn't showing that this was a New World machine. 
This had the side effect of breaking nvram support and Tiger thinking we 
had an OW machine with the 8GB bug.  I've recompiled the mods2.mkext to 
fix this issue.
