how to prevent Linux from claiming usb devices?

Hi,

I would like to use USB devices (specifically, a mass-storage device
and an usb microphone) with OS X in MOL.  The comment in molrc.osx
says that I need to prevent Linux from claiming these, how do I do
that?

I am using debian linux (testing).
