I've never run ydl so I can't give you any specifics, but if that distro packages the mol kernel modules, then just make sure the package versions match the kernel. If they don't match, they won't install. No harm done. However, if (like Ubuntu) the distro does not package the compiled modules, but include the module source instead, all you have to do is download the headers and/or source for your kernel and compile the mol modules yourself for whatever kernel(s) you're running. It's not difficult, just another few steps each time you update the kernel.
