I think the key part of the trace is this:

It looks like the USB hub has detected an over current condition.
This may be real, but its more likely that you're hitting an
incompatibility between the silicon revision you're using the and the
kernel version. STx7100 chips before 3.1 had the state of the USB over
current pin inverted, so the kernel had a work around to disable this.
This needed to be removed for later versions.

You don't say which version of the silicon or kernel you're running,
so its hard to know where the problem is. But in general first try
upgrading to the latest kernel from www.stlinux.com and try again.
