I tried the Xebian 1.0.2 cd before messing with cromwell and i found 
that it had no problem with my usb, most of the time.  I looked through 
its log and it correctly registered 4 usb devices on bus numbers 1-4, 
but every few boots it would fail the same way gentoo did.  I gonna go 
ahead and try a newer cromwell, but it confuses me that the newer kernel 
was having more problems.
