Re: nv driver for X does not report DisplaySize correctly

Thanks for the pointers - I'll have a go with the nv
driver.

The reason I think DDC might be involved is that the
DisplaySize is read from the monitor in the DDC/EDID
exchange on a normal system, and the XF86Config-4
parameter overrides this, or supplies it for a
non-EDID monitor, so its probably stored in that part
of the system.

I tried HDTV/Component Video mode last night but:

In 480p mode the colours are all wrong.

In 720p mode:
1) there isn't enough video ram left for an XVIDEO
video overlay so I had to reduce the colours to 16
bit, 2) either the video bandwidth can't hack it, or
the downsampling to 960x540 makes things fuzzy, so web
browsing is not good
3) There quite a large overscan, which I can't seem to
get rid of.

Why are the colour registers programmed differently
for 480p mode and 720p mode on the focus chip? I'm
going to try to play with this, as soon as I can get
my head around building a kernel that will boot.
