Well , the other xbox apps like avalaunch dashboard dont see the lost files 
too. I lost around 10 gig on my diskdrive as due to the initial missing 
directory. Its choke full of pristine vmware images which i have to recreate 
now :(

To me, this proves beyond doubt that it is a bug in the fatx driver for
the linux kernel.
I can only give you two pieces of advice:

1) Try to use some 3rd party xbox-os app to remove the dir.
2) Don't do it again until (if) the driver is fixed.
