Installing Linux on Xbox

I am trying to install Linux on my xbox using the software method.  I
have the original version of Mechassault and action replay.  I
downloaded the 3 action replay saves off your website and copied them
onto my Xbox.  When I try to load them on Mechassault it says unable
to load. I used to have Xbox Live but I no loger have it.  My Xbox and
Windows PC is connected to a router.  I read the troubleshooting but
did not understand it.  Do I need to downgrade my dashboard and if I
do can you tell me how to in simple words because I don't know what
NIC or telnet means.
