Using that logic, Xbox-Linux shouldn't even support the knowledge of "e:" (that's an Xbox-Kernel thing - NOTHING to do with Xbox-Linux). Xbox-Linux should *only* support using the entire drive for Linux.

If Xbox-Linux has *any* 'knowledge' of partitions (as it currently does for C:-E:, although they are hard-coded #'s), then it knows about Xbox-Kernel-specific partitioning. Supporting a 'standard' extension to the Xbox-Kernel-specific partitioning (like LBA48 partition table) is no different (IMO) from Xbox-Linux 'knowing' about any of the other partitions.

My personal opinion is that if Xbox-Linux wants to co-exist with Xbox-Kernel (as it apparently does), then it should 'play nicely' with whatever the user is using on the Xbox-Kernel side (including partition table support). Andrew's original post that created this thread was just asking if anyone would mind if Xbox-Linux played a bit 'nicer' with Xbox-Kernel side.

As I said, if the Xbox-Linux community wants to consider themselves/their product as '100% separate' from the Xbox-Kernel, then it should just take over the entire drive/don't bother trying to co-exist with Xbox-Kernel. That's a perfectly valid position to take - although I believe you'll get less people downloading Xbox-Linux/converting their Xbox's to be 100% Linux.

Just my opinion...
