Audio failure with 2.6?

Hi, I've asked around a bit and googled for all my worth, and not come
up with a fix.

Very simply, sound works perfectly with a 2.4 kernel, but not with 2.6.
modprobe snd-intel8x0 xbox=1 gives:

PCI: Setting latency timer of device 0000:00:06.0 to 64
Intel ICH: probe of 0000:00:06.0 failed with error -13

I've tried both the in-kernel driver with 2.6.14 and the ALSA 1.0.10
release tarball, and even the OSS i810_audio all give the same result. I
can only assume this is some issue with an actual ICH / PCI driver than
a failing in ALSA itself.

This problem seems to affect quite a few people:

I'm not a coder, but is there anything I can do to help resolve this
issue? I'm happy to give ssh access to the Xbox if someone thinks they
can get sound working :)

It's interesting to note that I see the same thing when trying to load
the 'lirc_xboxusb' module - error -13 which is 'Permission Denied'
according to include/asm-generic/errno-base.h.

All suggestions will be warmly received! :)

Cheers,
Gavin.
