download-rpms from brother did not work, but using brother hl-2060
foomatic/hl1250 did work (media source: automatic, media type: plain paper,
page size: a4, resolution 300dpi || 600dpi, toner-saving 0 || 25% || 50%)

i would say it is "mostly". 
using kprinter-gui from kde i had slight troubles printing 2 pages on one sheet
(maybe solveable), but normal functions work without problems under
open-office, kpdf, xpdf, firefox ...
