Printing at 1/4 size from some programs

I have a debian box that I am trying to configure to print across a lan to a
Canon i550 attached to a WinXP pro box.  I am using the bjc-800 driver from
foomatic.  When I print from Firefox (0.8) printed pages are exactly as they
show up in the print-preview and fill up the paper to reasonable margins.  But
when I print from Abiword (2.0.6), pages print at 1/4 their size, shrunk down
and squished into the upper left-hand corner.  Any thoughts?
