Actually, in Mac OS X adapter is supported by the usb backend.  This 
is software that is part of the CUPS package and is built into OS X. 
Occasionally, there will be an adapter that doesn't work as it 
should.  In that case you can turn to the alternative "usbtb" 
backend.  You can find it at <http://buymelunch.org/printing/usbtb/>.

The printer should work fine with the pnm2ppa driver and the use of a 
parallel to USB adapteer.
