Right. The AL groups of devices is generally NOT supported for either 
printing or scanning under Linux.
PPDs for all suported models can be found at cups.org/linuxprinting.org.

They are not available even under NDA - there is just no support.

Which I am afraind to say is not planned.
Sharp supports Linux in most of the AR and all of the MX series models, 
which are meant for corporate use.
(Basically, everything that can support Postscript, as any GDI dialects 
cannot be supported for various reasons.)

The same applies to scanning.
