So I have setup a Samba server for windows client printing, everything works
great. I can upload drivers from an XP box, install printers, etc. The only
issue I am having now is a browsing problem. When I go into the "Printers and
Faxes" window in XP and navigate to the Samba server, I can see the printers
just fine, except I see generic objects that have no configuration options at
all (right click/properties), once I click on the second (!) "Printers and
Faxes" icon in that window, I then can see the same list of printers but this
time there are the configuration options. The only thing that is troubling
though....the refresh on this explorer window refreshes every 5 seconds or so
and re-establishes the list of printers. On a long list of printers, this would
be horrible as a client would not be able to scroll down to the printer in time
for it to refresh all over again and get you to the top of the list. Is there
an option to set in the smb.conf file to 1.)Eliminate the extra object that
does not have any "properties" in the initial window and 2) (most important)
get that refresh action to STOP!

FYI, I looked at an Ethereal capture for this action, multiple DCERPC
requests...over and over and over and over while that window is open.
