[Printing-user-general] Colour PCL from PS/PDF

I want to be able to convert a colour PDF/PS file to an equivalent PCL
file.
I have tried using cljet5c as the driver in gs, but the quality when
viewed via pcl6 is no where near as good as the original.....
I know it sounds stupid, but we have an Excel/Word doc that we can
create a PS/PDF file from - we then want to use that file as a form
'template' in a program. We have the 'knowledge' to be able to overprint
the template with 'data' (using PCL commands) - to produce an order
form, or invoice type document.
So what where doing is:
* Create a PDF/PS template from a standard Word/Excel document
* Use a PCL version of that template in a program and then overlay
the template with data using PCL commands
* Despool the combined template/data with pcl6 to create a PDF
output.
The quality of using the lj4dith/p drivers gives good results in
monochrome, but really we want to be able to print full colour output.
Does any of that make sense?
