need java / fc5 printing help

I just loaded up fedora core 5 (fc5) and am trying to do some printing from a
java application. A test program :

used to succesfully print on fc4 but no longer does on fc5. The print dialog
box has the option to save the output to a .ps file. When chosen, the file is
empty.

Other printing (e.g. web page, kedit file, openoffice, etc) work fine.

I realize that this may not be the appropriate forum, please not that I have I
posted to sun and fedora without results. 

Perhaps someone might have some insight or ideas on how to debug this?
