Hi all Today I found that on this website Brother is rated as "not recommended" 'cause of their alledged lack of Open Source Software support. I have to object that. I'm using a MFC 4550CN with Sane and Cups on Debian Sarge and that works great. The only drawback I found was that the scannersupport was only available for USB, not via the network. But triggered by the qualification here I got back to the Brother website and found that Brother updated their scanner support and now provide a package to use the scanner via LAN. Brother provides great support for Open Source with precompiled packages for most, if not all, of their models for Red Hat/Suse and Debian. See for yourself and judge accordingly: http://solutions.brother.com/linux/en_us/index.html DISCLAIMER!! I do not work for Brother or any associated company. IMHO Brother deserves better credit on this website for their Open Source Software support. Regards, M.V. Wesstein the Netherlands
