If you have your printer plugged into a random cheapo linux=20
system (eg raspberry pi or equivalent) running CUPS+Gutenprint, you can=20
supposedly set the Mac up to print over the network using a Gutenprint=20
PPD.  Or at least that's what google seems to say.

But as for running Gutenprint _natively_ on MacOS <=3D 9 with=20
direct-connected printers... I don't think there is a technical reason=20
why that can't be done, but it will likely take quite a bit of work
and as far as I'm aware nobody has even considered doing so.
