two major changes to top

Hi Craig,

Attached are patches for both our master and newlib branches.  They 
mostly deal with changes to the top user interface.

1) A new '4' toggle will enable printing cpu stats in two columns.

2) A new '!' toggle can group cpus, further reducing display line overhead.
