Re: a little more top tweakin'

Hi Craig,

Attached are two more patches for each of our two branches.  They 
represent (I'm almost certain) the final tweaks relating to the new '4' 
and '!' toggles.

As a separate request, could you please close the issues listed below. 
They've been addressed as far as I am able.
