Hi, I'm looking into bug https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=1025790 The issue is that older versions of ps used to show <defunct> for the comm field but only the cmd field does it. That's because the escape_string in ps/output.c doesn't add that, but the older escape_command in proc/escape.c did. The change was at https://gitlab.com/procps-ng/procps/-/commit/584028dbe513127ef68c55aa631480454bcc26bf and is 7 years ago. I cannot remember if this was intentional or not or if so why. I'd probably add it back to the ps command but not sure if it is needed. - Craig -- Craig Small https://dropbear.xyz/ csmall at : dropbear.xyz Debian GNU/Linux https://www.debian.org/ <http://www.debian.org/> csmall at : debian.org GPG fingerprint: 5D2F B320 B825 D939 04D2 0519 3938 F96B DF50 FEA5
