RemoteConfig with XFree86 Ver 3

Dear Sir,

I was successfully able to use, Remote configuration with XFree86 Ver 4. But
if i use it with ver 3 i get error while booting the node.

The last lines of /tmp/x.err is as follows:
--------------------------------------------------------------
HorizSync 31-35
		   ^^

Monitor section keyword expected.

The whole thing works perfectly if i use, Xfree ver 4 while pxesconfig.  Can
any one help me.

Is it true that Remote configuration cannot be used, with ver 3.

I think that is a lot better to use the monitor's manual.

Looks like this may be the beginning of a howto or more likely a faq.

Failed to open Display ":0:0" messages indicate that X can not start. This
may 
be because the incorrect frequency ranges have been specified or if using 
autdetect monitor, the monitor could not be identified (and thus the 
incorrect frequency ranges are being used). Try manually specifiying the 
correct horizontal and vertical frequency ranges in pxesconfig. Check your 
monitor manual for these values. As a last resort if you can't find the 
manual and searching the internet does not help, you can try booting the
thin 
client using a bootable RedHat Linux installation cd (or probably other 
distributions also) that uses a graphical installation. Once the graphical 
installation starts (meaning that X is running), hit ctrl-alt-f2 to get a 
command prompt. Type less /tmp/XF86Config.test, and look for the Monitor 
section for your monitor. Write down the HorizSync and the VertRefresh
ranges 
so that you can use them when you run pxesconfig. Instead of booting from an

install CD, you could also try booting from a hard drive that has Linux and
X 
installed, and then locating the values in the /etc/X11/XF86Config file
under 
the Monitor section.

Another thing to try is to reduce the color depth and/or resolution since
your 
video card may not have enough memory to support 24 bit color at your 
selected resolution.

As long as you are able to run X on the hardware one way or another, you 
should be able to run X with pxes linux, it is just a matter of getting the 
XF86Config file set up correctly for the hardware.

Please correct any errors and add to this answer as needed to make it
suitable 
to add to the pxes faq.
