Hi Einar,

I think the problems you are experiencing are related to the versions of
the printing utils/daemons (lpd and lpc) that you're using. I think this
because I didnt have to copy over different library files to get my copies
of lpd and lpc to work. Unfortunately it was some time ago that i extracted
them and i am not sure of the exact rpms i used. I believe it was either
of the following: LPRng-3.7.4-28.2.i386.rpm (Redhat 7.2) or
lpr-0.50.5-1.i386.rpm (Redhat 6.2). To extract all the files in the rpm do
the following: 'rpm2cpio lpr-0.50.5-1.i386.rpm | cpio -ivd'. That command
will treat your current directory as the system root and instead you will 
find
all of the files in the rpm extracted here. This makes it so you dont have 
to
mess up the system you're working on.
With the version of lpd I have it gives no error when i run it again
(even after the daemon has already been started).
Also I get the following with 'lpc status all':

lp:

queuing enabled
printing enabled
no entries
no daemon present


To answer your other question about lpd.conf and lpd.perms, i did
not edit those files, infact i do not have them in my /etc directory or
anywhere else.

Once you think you may have lpd and lpc running properly try
printing through lpr by issuing the following:

cat /etc/printcap | lpr

This should print out a hard copy of the printcap file but through
the lpd/lpc daemons instead of directly to the printer device. If
this works you should be in good shape to use the printer in Citrix.
