Yes I use local session and   I tried to but I didn't find where I can 
configure to have the wfcmgr working.
The second problem is that the local sessions has a very slow X server (I 
test with a full red hat 9 on the same computer, and the speed is normal).

Are you using a LOCAL sesion ? With this session you can access wfcmgr
as a desktop icon and all of the problems mounting / read only are
solved.
