SV: DHCP server ?

Hey Tim

Can you really do that with MAC addresses ? I cant seem to find it. All I
find is the HEX value of the IP address.
Snagged from the page:

First, it will search for the config file using its own IP address in upper
case hexadecimal, e.g. 192.0.2.91 -> C000025B (you can use the included
progam gethostip to compute the hexadecimal IP address for any host.) 
If that file is not found, it will remove one hex digit and try again.
Ultimately, it will try looking for a file named default (in lower case). 

As an example, for 192.0.2.91, it will try C000025B, C000025, C00002, C0000,
C000, C00, C0, C, and default, in that order.


Of course this is an option, but it will add more administrative work.
I will look into this a bit more.
It could very well be what I end up using. Either that or bootloader menu.

I'm still in the testing phase concerning thin client hardware.
Currently testing ThinTune boxes (www.thintune.de). The Xs box is sweet.
Also expecting HPs thin clients any day.

We must recycle all the old hardware before using new thin client hardware.

No, all you need to do is copy the "default" config file (the one called
"default") from the TFTP server, modify it to have the image u want and then
call it the right name based on the mac address. Read the docs at
http://syslinux.zytor.com/pxe.php.
