You're advice worked to a point.

Keyboard input now works when connected however connecting seems to be the
trick.

I see the following:

Flashes X, Flashes "Please Wait", starts vnc, errors (Exit value 141) and
prompts to exit, dies.. then starts vnc and connects fine.

Sometimes the error does not appear. The error can also be reproduced on
reconnect after logging out of vnc session.

With debug on, nothing is displayed after vncveiwer.sh when error occurs, I
see the usual VNC connection info on normal connection.

Rdp sessions appear to start fine each time.

Yours truly,

Ben

 You need to specify
 wm=0
 or
 WINDOW_MANAGER=0
 because there"s a conflict between VNC and windows manager.
 It will be automatically detected in PXES 0.9.
