Hi there, i finally got the gentoo ebuild of pxes to work and ran
pxesconfig.
Now when i boot the terminal (compaq PIII 650, 128M RAM, nvidia pci card)
it boots but part way through it freezes up and says something along the
lines:
cannot mount devfs error -2
then two lines later
cannot open initial console
which seems unsurprising if it cannot mount devfs. I am using the
standard kernel supplied with pxes 0.8 ( vmlinuz-2.4.20-10pxes.i586).
The initrd was generated by pxesconfig.
I am booting from etherboot on a floppy rather than pxe, as pxe doesn't
seem to handle the tftp server being on a different box to the dhcp
server. etherboot loads nbgrub, and grub has the command lines in its
menu:
kernel /pxes/vmlinuz-2.4.20-10pxes.i586 ro root=/dev/ram sd=ask ramdisk_size=65535
initrd /pxes/pxes-0.8.initrd
Any clues on where to from here?
