Okay - how I went about it I needed to change a compile time option for the rtk8139 module, so I did it this way 1) I got the kernel source for the same version of the kernel as PXEs was using at the time 2) Untarred the kernel source to /usr/src/linux-PXEs 3) Copied the .config file from PXEs to /usr/src/linux-PXEs/.config 4) In /usr/src/linux-PXEs I did a make oldconfig 5) Then a make menuconfig and turned on the various options I wanted. Leave your network cards and sound cards as modules, but you can turn off nics and sound cards you don't have. 6) make dep bzImage modules modules_install 7) coffee 8) The kernel is now in /usr/src/linux-PXEs/arch/i386/boot/bzImage The modules are in /lib/modules/2.4.20/ You need to copy the kernel to /opt/pxes-0.8/stock/arch/i586/kernel/vmlinuz-2.4.20 and copy the module tree from /lib/modules/2.4.20 to /opt/pxes-0.8/stock/arch/i586/modules/lib/modules/2.4.20 9) Then run pxesconfig and on the first page, enter the above information. 10) Go through and make your new images from there. 11) Then you will have to open the image (somehow) and tell it to run whatever wireless config commands you need (iwconfig eth0 ssid YourSSID key s:YourWepKeyHERE ) etc Good luck! -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Paul Eden Sent: Tuesday, 2 November 2004 9:48 a.m. To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [pxes-devel] Wireless support If there are no modules available already, will someone point me in the right direction on how to add them?
