Perhaps "Power off" is more evident that "Shutdown", and adding the
button is the best way to go, AFAIK.

You may need only need bootsplash patch (I'm guessing that you want a
graphical boot splash). I've made this in some custom images and works
great if you have any VESA 2.0 compliant video card.

Yes, may be an rdesktop related problem. Some heavy javascript pages
present the same behavior. In W2K3 and rdesktop 1.4.1 those problems are
less evident.
