Better in the sense that it seemed easier to add support for this than for
NFS :).  For most things Samba (which is already supported) would be just
fine.  In my case I want to rsync a server to a fairly fast workstation for
use if the server ever has a serious problem that cannot be fixed the same
day and I don't have much confidence that Samba or NFS would allways do the right
thing with device files, permissions, symlinks etc.
