PXES on newer Distros

Diego all,
Hello, I've been using PXES for 3 years now, however I'm starting to have alot
of issues installing new systems.  I have pretty much standardized my customers
on CentOS, and have been installing 4.1 lately... However I cannot run PXES on
this distro (or RHEL 4, or White Box EL4) because none of these distros have
RPMs for Gtk-Perl or the right Glade libraries (they have libglade2, not
libglade).  I've tried building these packages from scratch, and there are tons
of dependencies that aren't satisfied anymore.  To give you an idea, I went at
least 3 steps down the dependency tree, first Gtk-Perl is missing, tried to
build that, its missing libglade-devel, and a couple others, tried to build
libglade-devel, its missing 5 packages... In short I think the dependency tree
is pretty much insoluable, and if there is a solution, it will take much more
time than I'm willing to spend on it...

I know Diego has said that he is porting pxesconfig to python to avoid some of
these issues, however is there a workaround right now for these problems?  Or
do I just have to keep a redhat 9 box around to build new pxes images?  If
there are no good workarounds what is that status of the port (I don't consider
keeping a redhat 9 box around a good solution)? And can I get that sourcecode
and start hacking on it as well? I'm a so so python dev, and would be more than
happy to help get the port done so I can continue to use PXES.
