problem in running latency test

Hello I'm trying to compile rtai on my Ubuntu 16.04 x64. I tried various combinations of kernel and rtai but could not succeed. My Last attempt was with kernel 3.18.20 with rtai 5.0-test2 release. The problem I'm encountering is when i run latest test application, my CPU get powered off(I guess so). Nothing is in screen, keyboard and mouse not responding still PC power LED is on. What could be wrong. my pc is Dell precision WorkStation-T5500 with Intel® Xeon(R) CPU E5520 @ 2.27GHz processor.
