Hi Emmanuel, I did execute 'make modules_install' first, before 'make install'. I repeated the compilation starting with a copy of the installation .config, omitting the 'make localmodconfig'. Now the compilation takes longer, and the install still issues the missing module errors, but in the end the new kernel boots successfully and the USB keyboard works. So, localmodconfig appears to be missing a required USB driver. I'm reluctant to use the old RTAI 3.9, so I tried repeating the installation on a RedHat 7.2 system with kernel 3.10.32 and rtai-5.0-test1. Even with a full .config (no make localmodconfig), the boot hangs. Are any specific instructions available for how to configure this kernel and rtai combination? Thank you again for your help.
