Hi Onno, I'm not an RTAI developer, but I work on a different
open-source project that uses RTAI (www.linuxcnc.org).

I make Debian packages of the RTAI-patched Linux kernel for our users,
and these packages might be useful to you.

I have made experimental packages of Linux 4.1.18 and RTAI 5.0-test2
(Vulcano snapshot 2016-12-12). The .debs are available for Debian 8
("Jessie"), but might work on Debian 7 ("Wheezy") too, i don't know.

Here's to to use these packages:

1. Add the apt repo:

sudo add-apt-repository 'deb http://highlab.com/rtai/2017-01-10/ jessie
main'

2. Update the package list (it will complain that it doesn't know the
key i used to sign the packages):

sudo apt-get update

3. Install the kernel and rtai modules:

sudo apt-get install linux-image-4.1.0-1-rtai-amd64 (or -686-pae if
you're on a 32-bit system)

sudo apt-get install rtai-modules-4.1.0-1

4. Reboot, and make sure you reboot to the new RTAI kernel.

5. Test your program with the new kernel and let me know if it works!
