Just checking in to introduce myself and test that my preferred email address is receiving posts here (receiving email via SF can cause problems)... I am the John (EBo) David that Dr. Yodaiken mentioned a little bit ago... Things that may be of general interest: *) I have done a bunch of work recently upgrading EMC (1 and 2) to work under RTLinux-Pro and clean up the builds under RTLinux-Free. EMC1 has been reorganized and now uses automake, autoconf, and libtool. This cleans up the build and configuration considerably. *) a new feature has been added to EMC1 that allows stepper phase reordering for machines like the MaxNC (what I have available for testing at the moment) that do not follow conventional phase ordering. *) I also have a patched 2.4.19 kernel with various security patches, etc., that I will be posting on the server in the next couple of days. This is about 200 patches (most of which were derived or taken directly from gentoo-sources-2.4.19_r22). *) Also written a Gentoo ebuild of RTLinux-free (which automates the patching of the kernel) for 2.4.19. *) I just completed a Gentoo ebuild of EMC1 which autobuilds emc1 for both RTLinux-Pro and RTLinux-Free. This autosences configuration when only one is installed (RTLinux-Pro/-Free) and can be specified explicitly using Gentoo's conventional USE flags. The base sources of EMC1/2 also do this now. *) I have discussed the changes with the EMC working group and they have asked me to post the code within their SF Projects so others can work on it to. I expect that this will take place in the next couple of days after I have verified that all the changes work with my alpha tester in Germany. Limitations: *) I only have a MaxNX-10 available for testing. As such, I have only ported and tested the stepper modules. I can either walk you through upgrading your favorite drivers or we can discuss me doing so. I will want access to specific hardware during testing and development however.
