Hi Ardon,
Realtime FIFOs are First-In-First-Out queues that can be read from and
written to by Linux processes and RTLinux threads. FIFOs are
uni-directional - you can use a pair of FIFOs for bi-directional data
exchange.
rtf_create allocates the buffer of the specified size for the fifo buffer.
rtf_destroy deallocates the FIFO. These functions must only be called from
the Linux kernel thread (i.e., from init_module()). After the FIFO is
created, the following calls can be used to access it from RTLinux threads:
open(2), read(2), write(2) and close(2). The mbuff are used to share a
memory between Linux Processes and RTLinux processes. Since writing to a
file is unidirectional, can opt for the rt fifos. Can also go through the
design doc... which gives better idea.
