Hi, Somehow I build two rtl3.2-rc1 2.4.27 kernel. (thanks to hofrat!) First night it run with one module 0.5msec(500usec) interval signal generation. Simple 2kHz rectangular wave form alone. I coud do anything switchin to Xwindow to consoles and runing find command to serach thru all H.D. After that I apt-get installed some apps like KDevelps and Qtdesigners and other programs. Now it crushes if I generate the same waveform at same rate. It last for few tens of seconds possibly but depending on the occasion, it halt and does not respond anything. One more PC, which I made xconfig more options. It halted so quickly that the insmoding the *.o file stopped PC. It workded only when I extended the time constants to be 1msec or longer. So I re-installed and made xconfgured more or less like defaults except CPU type. It became more lasty than before but it quits working at the rate of 0.5msec frequency, unlike the other's primary state. So I changed the frequency less so the second PC works for longer time and observed for a while. Then I switched Xwindow to terminals and at the moment I switch back to Xwindow it halted again. I noticed this second one got more work to do because of larger area on screen (1280x1024 v.s. 1024x768 at the primary PC) Also I partitioned 80GB for this second PC. Only 20GB for the first one. I am quite happy with 1msec frequency which first PC can handle with no problem at all, thogh, I wish to run faster to have better safe margin. Anyone could suggest anyhing on the better (faster) performance on this kernel stability related to the configurations of the PC itself? (As far as my case is concerned the first one is Celeron and 500US$ price and Second one 1000US$ with Pentium 4. so it tells me to buy the cheapest....) Thank you for your attention. P.S. Any suggestion to test the performance without let PC to crush? Wathavy. __________________________________ Let's Celebrate Together! Yahoo!
