For a data acquisition program, what would be the effects of reprogramming the timer 0 (change the countdown value) and the corresponding interrupt vector address to point to my hardware handler routine from within a RT thread? I would do this for a few seconds and then return both to their prior settings. This is what I used to do in a DOS program for very good interrupt timing. I also disabled all other interrupts for those critical seconds, and read the CMOS clock and updated the system time of day clock when finished. Thanks.
