it should not matter - but there was a problem reported.

Also the kernel should compile without CONFIG_SMP - I have it compiled
here on a number of UP boxes without SMP settings with all current patches
from CVS greater 2.4.24.

I'll give it a run with your .config and see if I can reproduce the error.
