I don't have success with Pentium D with SMP enable and RT Linux. I=20 tried many configurations: with all family of processors (586 to P4),=20 with and without ACPI, with and without Unsynced TSC, with and without=20 Power Management. With the family processors of PIII to P4, the system hangs in the moment=20 of the rtl.o is loaded. With the Pentium Classic, MMX, 586, the system hangs in the regression=20 tests (thread wait times). I tried all the configurations above with the gcc 3.3.3 and gcc 2.95.4.=20 The results are the same for the both compilers. After several reboots, I give up! Nowadays, I use the configuration like=20 a previously mentioned above, with P4 Processor family, with ACPI, APM=20 and Unsynced TSC, without SMP and Local APIC. The system works fine now,=20 with success in all regression tests. I would like to know if the SMP support in RT Linux 3.2-rc1 is broken.=20 Anybody know if is true? Have some import difference, to RT Linux, if processors are two in the=20 same chip (dual core) or if are two different chips? The behavior of the=20 SMP in this case are different? Some patch is needed? The main reason to choice the dual core processors is the use of the SMP=20 capacity. If they only can be used in UP mode, I don't find any reason=20 to use it with RT Linux. The use of the SMP with kernel 2.4.29 patched with RTL3.2-rc1 are=20 possible with the rtlinux are not loaded into kernel. In this case, all=20 functions of the system works fine. Someone have tested the support to dual core processors in RT Linux?=20 Anyone use the RTL3.2-rc1 with SMP in any way?
