Try the most recent version that is RHEL4 U3 as of today. Also, try to
change rhgb to norhgb in grub.conf or pass it in when reboot. I did see
rhgb hung the system if X is used.  If  OS installation doesn't
complete, suggest to reinstall to avoid other unpredictable problems late=
r.
