RE: System crashing every morning

This was the only list that I could find to do with the kernel.  I didn't 
realises that axp meant Alpha - thanks for your help anyway.  at 1am I 
do run up2date -u so I suppose that could be doing something but 
according to its log it ended fine and had no problems - the system 
crashed in /var/log/messages about 55 minutes after it was meant to 
have started.  I'll run a memtest on it then and see what I get - the 
RAM is cheap Kingston ValueRAM stuff so I suppose that could be the 
problem.

I don't think there is a hacker on there (I haven't noticed anything 
running wrong - any unknown processes e.t.c., and the only user 
accounts on it are people I know well).  I'll have a good check though.
