a problem with kdivelop

I'm a programer of c++ and i'm migrating to linux. I have kdivelop 2.0 
and rht 7.2 and i need information for some functions that are no 
portables to linux. But there is'nt in the help of the program like in 
the M$ MSDN. 

For example i need information about a function that search files on 
system like findfirst and findnext of M$. A complementary function that 
change the actual directory like chdir of M$ and others.

If some body can help me.
