I am interested in this topic as well.
I use braille and command-line also, but ubuntu.
Calibre is a program to convert ebooks, but it requires xwindows I think.
However it seems to have a subprogram called ebook-convert that may work command-line.
I have only read a tad on this.
I will experiment as time and energy permit.
