I found out why xorg won't work on archlinux

It turns out in the Xorg.0.log file there's a pause for drm and that pause 
is forcing startx to fail.  It's possible this is being triggered by a 
driver xorg-drivers installs to handle drm but I'm not certain about that 
yet.  I'll find out later.
If you guessed the video card over here is nvidia you got it right.
