Probably not in this case.

The various versions of .profile, e.g. .bash_profile, are only used when
for shells that are login shells--except graphical logins don't source
profile.

Your .bashrc is read by scripts, and such.


This is my current understanding of how this all fits together. Hope
it's helpful.
