You can't depend on `dmidecode' for a unique serial number. Here's what I get on my machine (many lines of output deleted): Serial Number: SYS-1234567890 Serial Number: xxxxxxxxxxx Asset Tag: Asset-1234567890 --- Vladimir ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Vladimir G.
