make modules failed on RHEL3 u9

List,

I am updating RHEL3U9 on my SMP machine and download
ftp://ftp.redhat.com/pub/redhat/linux/updates/enterprise/3AS/en/os/SRPMS/=
kernel-2.4.21-50.EL.src.rpm.

1. run rpm -ivh kernel-2.4.21-50.EL.src.rpm.
2. cd /usr/src/linux-2.4
3. make oldconfig
4. make dep && make bzImage
 but there are errors when I do "make modules".

Anything I miss here?
